It is used primarily in the product design and manufacturingmarkets to track and manage data created by CAD/CAM/CAE pointapplications. A broad range of functions are provided throughout anetworked heterogeneous environment of clients and workstations for end-users, system administrators, and managers.EDL gives end-users a consistent, easy-to-use graphical user interfacebased on X Window System/OSI Motif. It provides system administratorsnetwork-wide installation, application distribution, and user/hostvalidations from one administrative system. Finally, EDL meets managementneeds in many ways. It enforces and maintains full attribute definition,classification, and required tracking; and automatically tracks realtime,network-wide status of all data. Full reporting capability of allsystems, users, and documents is standard or can be site-modified. Fullyflexible electronic review and release control procedures are availablewith toggle tables for definition. All review, release, and notificationhappens transparently over the network.
